"feminism" is often co-opted by rich suburban wine moms not as a liberating force but instead means to enforce existing gender binaries and rules.

this is where radfems/terfs come from, and also the "girlboss" shit too. it isn't liberation when you are furthering the division of gender or reducing it to neoliberal identity politics

there is a certain margin where identity doesn't matter when bigger things are at stake. it creates a precedent of politicians bringing nothing to the table besides their individual identity

this goes for all types of idpol too. your identity is only a part of your larger self, and doesn't determine your entire worth. it also doesn't mean everything you say is representative of your entire identity.

of course, you get a leg up for having lived experience, but at the end of the day its not a trump card nor should it be.
