Two things about the conservative memory editing that’s already afoot— “we supported the most policy-successful president of the modern era, too bad he was such a rhetorically self-sabotaging colorful character.”

1/
Trade wars are being counted as policy successes, not as an infection for conservative antibodies to fight off, not as part of the aberration. Nationalist protectionism is now the orthodoxy, with free-trade open-market liberalism rejected along with (((globalist))) elites. 2/
GOP-identified libertarians who have imagined a return to fusionism are going to be disappointed. It’s Tucker Carlson’s party now; you just live in it.

3/
Second: the story being spun is “unparalleled economic prosperity (until coronavirus) brought on by low taxes and deregulation.” The multi-trillion-dollar stimulus of boom-time deficit spending is already down the memory hole.
4/
That means, of course, that the relative economic pain associated with any pro-cyclical spending cuts in the middle of the COVID downturn will be misattributed to Biden’s regulations, and the GOP tradition of brazen hypocrisy about debt and deficit will be repeated yet again. //
