Cw/ Fairy Tail, Hunter x Hunter, PERSONAL OPINION, spoilers(?)

Just saw a post call Togashi, the creator of HxH, a VERY smart man, and I can& #39;t help but to COMPLETELY AGREE with that statement...

(Thread)
When I watched HxH, freshly into my 20& #39;s (as I still am) I saw myself mentally challenged. One thing I do a lot when watching any piece of media is to try and predict the next move the author will make regarding the plot of the show/book I am currently consuming
1/
Is something I enjoy doing; to not only catch the foreshadowing something has, but to also navigate in my mind the possible paths that the author will take to reach the ending presented by all the foreshadowing in the work.
I first started doing this when I first saw Fairy Tail
2
At 13 years old, I was absolutely fascinated by the way Hiro Mashima connected all the plot lines into the future ones, I saw the way nothing, absolutely nothing, was left to chance, everything in Fairy Tail had a reason to be there,
3/
And I was absolutely baffled by the smart way every little detail that seemed a little bit off, was justified by the magic system of Fairy Tail.
Proportions a little bit of? Magic
Flying cats that can change shape at will?
Magic
It was absolutely genius to me.

I think this is the reason why I grew to be pretty critical of the media I consume, nitpicking at details that don& #39;t add up, majorly on plot points. I sometimes feel like a Sherlock Holmes of creative media, which is not always a good thing to be, since
5/
I KNOW it can come off as pretentiousness, but I still enjoy myself doing that.
The reason as to why I agree with the statement of Togashi being smart, is because at 20, it challenged me as I tried to predict the plot HxH would follow.
6/
At first I thought: "well, it& #39;s a shonen, I& #39;m sure it& #39;ll be the same as any other".
BOY WAS I WRONG
The more HxH progressed, the plot, although simple, it also became more intricate, the feelings of the characters grew with them and
7/
The themes HxH treated became much more mature; by the time I reached the Chimera-Ant Arc, I was gladly surprised to come across philosophical issues regarding black and white thinking and judgment, especially with Meruem and the way his perspective of the world changed.
8/
I will not say he& #39;s THE greatest villain ever conceived, but he is definitely high up on my ranks.
I stopped looking at the plot as much, as my mind wandered more deeply into the moral of the story and the way the world view of the show is still relevant,
9/
Now more than ever in Fandom spaces, (which is a discussion for another thread).
All this to say that I respect Togashi and his world view as a MALE author of one of the greatest shonen out there in my opinion, because let& #39;s face it,
10/
Usually the ones that present moral challenges and have such depth with their characters the same way HxH does, are created by women (not a surprise); just look at Fullmetal Alchemist, created by Hiromu Arakawa.

So, please, if you haven& #39;t, do yourself a favor and go watch HxH.
