btw i’m probably gonna be talking a lot abt chinese and maybe french colonization and stuff bc ofc vietnam is a part of the sinosphere
ok so basically when china came and colonized vietnam they gave us all last names (we didn’t have last names prior to that) so it would be easier to keep track of ppl and fax them so most if not all vietnamese last names are chinese but over the years and stuff +
the pronunciations are a bit different. “Nguyễn“ comes from the last name “ruan/yuen” (if u pronounce nguyen right u can hear it esp in canto). “Bùi” comes from “Pei”. “Trần” comes from “Chen”, “Lê” comes from “Li” and so forth (sorry idk the chinese spellings!!!)

for the rest of the day and i thought that was super cute and ik they work very hard over there.
