Mask off for a bit:

I'm profoundly happy and relieved that we have elected a good man to be president. I'm certain to disagree with Biden over the next 4-8 years, but I'll never doubt his intentions.
Additionally, while I'm pretty damn far from Kamala on policy, I'm pleased that our country has taken the step of having a woman of color as V.P. This doesn't fix everything by a long shot but it's another important step in our national healing from centuries of oppression.
I'm more hopeful than I have been in a long time for this country. Rejecting trump after four years was important, but is also insufficient. There is still much healing needed.
70 million people voted for a vain, bigoted, hateful, ignorant man for president and that's not going away just because he lost.
Our country needs to address this, and we need to do it in a way that addresses real concerns without giving an inch to bigotry and hatred. It's going to be a tough needle to thread, but I'm optimistic.
So let's celebrate the victory, it was hard fought and the stakes were incredibly high. But remember that there's still much work to be done.
