Alright, in honor of today, gonna do a special Worldly Wednesday style post for you all!

Let's begin!

The literal meaning of Kamala, the name, is Sanskrit for lotus (the flower).

Symbolically, Kamala is an alternate name to the goddess Lakshmi, aka the goddess of wealth.

Now, when we say Goddess of Wealth, this does not just mean in the monetary sense, but in any form of prosperity, be it love, knowledge, wisdom, courage, kindness, etc.

Going back to the lotus, this flower has a very positive meaning in Hinduism. A lotus flower grows in some of the murkiest water, rising above the funk to then sit pristine and pretty above the rancid waters, it in itself unaffected and untouched by the corruption.

Now, when someone is named such, it means that the person should aspire to be pristine and uncorrupt like the lotus, and be a conduit to the mother Lakshmi to bring wealth in all its forms to them and those around them.
