This week in therapy, I cried because the burden of changing the world falls disproportionately on BIPOC, especially women, and it seemed a few days ago that it wasn't worth it, that oppressions, both big and small, felt corrosive and insurmountable. 1
Today, this seems less so, and I feel lighter, but I hope that everyone who is celebrating today understands that we all make choices everyday, and that choosing the better thing is not hard and it can lessen the load on the BIPOC who have been working to exhaustion lately. 2
You choose with what you buy and from whom, how you answer your children's questions, what you watch and read, how you respectfully move aside on a sidewalk. You make these small choices, then bigger ones. Imagine if everyone made one better choice every day. 3
Anyway, I'm going to store that in my brain today. I HAVE CHAMPAGNE IN THE FRIDGE. Xoxo. 4
