MATCH REVIEW

What a match. Happy to see that we won after not winning for 4 matches in the league. There were some positives but there were negatives as well. A lot to go through from this match.

LINE-UP REVIEW:
Don't get why exactly Dest didn't start today. He didn't put a foot wrong against Dynamo Kiev. Will talk about Roberto's performance later on. The biggest talking point was Messi being benched. The reason was given is to give him rest. Really confusing for me.

He played 90 minutes against Ferencváros and Dynamo Kiev who are much weaker opponents than Betis are. He got 45 minutes of rest, hardly anything. Griezmann played as the '10' with Pedri on the left, Dembele on the right and Fati as the '9'.

IN GAME ANALYSIS:
MATS again was good in goal. Kept us in the game. Can't blame him for any goal that we conceded today. Alba was okay, wasn't really troubled by Joaquin. Got an assist as well. Roberto got 2 assists but his overall game was poor. All the goals came from his side.

Pique and Lenglet were okay. Didn't play bad but didn't play good either. The second goal was due to sloppy defending from the team.

Busquets played better today individually but his inclusion still bothers me. Frenkie had an underrated match. Did everything right today. His run in the first half was really good, used one of his strengths.

On the left Pedri didn't play that well compared to his performances. Looked tired to me. Still bagged a goal though. On the right Dembele played well. He scored the first goal. He needs to be fit and that would result into him being more consistent. Can't sell him this window.

In the '10' Griezmann played and he played really well. His general play was really good. What wasn't good was his finishing. Missed a penalty as well. He scored a goal after Messi came on. He had a lot of chances to score today.

Ansu played as the '9' and did okay, nothing special from the golden boy today. Rightfully was substituted.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
The first one was Messi coming on for Ansu and he changed the game. No one should ever doubt Messi. He scored an open play goal and also a penalty. Trincão came on replacing Dembele and was okay. Not going to judge him too much. This is not the season to do that.

Braithwaite and Pjanic came on as well replacing Griezmann and Busquets respectively. Didn't touch the ball that much to talk about them.

Still don't know why Puig or Aleña didn't play. Betis were 10 men for the last 30 minutes. Certainly could've played today.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Playing Roberto, Dembele, Busquets and Pique on the right was not the right decision. It was constantly attacked by Betis. This side also was responsible for us conceding 2 goals. Another issue was our pressing, it still looked disjointed even without Messi.

Can't blame Messi for that. We don't collectively press. That's the reason why teams have been able to score fairly easily. It's clearly something that Koeman has to work on in the break.
