Anyway, if you care about people in WV now would definitely be the time to support WV- local movements, efforts, and community aid instead of looking down your nose at us and saying that’s what a red state gets.
For instance, I’m worried about our harm reduction programs and support for people who use drugs. As always, I’d encourage you to support community groups like SOAR that provide naloxone to people https://donorbox.org/stop-the-overdoses-charleston-wv
I’m worried about our LGBTQ population. The Fairness Act has never seriously been more than lukewarm maybes from most of our representatives, let alone now with Republican supermajorities.
I don’t even know where to begin for my environmental concerns about the future of WV.
All these issues existed with our previous Dem representatives, to be clear. I consider our state Democratic Party a joke. They are extremely useless and have dropped every ball. I also don’t forgive their silence on previous abortion bills. But I also expect much worse soon.
Let alone our state’s overall covid response. Our tweaked maps, our moving goalposts about percentages, firing the extremely well-respected and knowledgeable Dr. Slemp and hiring someone who seems to lack a spine and a drive for transparency...blocking respected journalists?
My last depressing thought on this thread: our teachers. They fought for a raise & were vilified for it, only to see those same politicians campaign about how they “gave” that raise to educators. Now those politicians have a supermajority and a drive to deregulate and demoralize
