So a while back (like 24 hours, so a decade) I saw people talking about moving to Georgia to vote in the Senate Race.

And for a brief period of time, I thought about it. I’m portable. I pay myself. I could do it.
Then I thought about the money involved—for a place to live, for maintaining two households, for travel—and the cost to others of moving in a fucking pandemic.
And I realized how much hubris was involved in the idea that the best way to use that money was to support my single vote, when there are Georgians who risk losing housing, risk not being able to feed their families, risk losing jobs due to COVID.
Those dollars could create conditions that would allow dozens of people actually living in Georgia to be a little more safe and a little more secure, which would in turn give them time to vote.
Over the weekend, I’m going to be making donations to Georgia foodbanks, Georgia mutual aids, and Georgia tenants’ rights groups, in addition to the more political ones out there.

I’ll post links for anyone who wants to follow.

Some people have asked: I also believe in supporting the groups in Georgia who have organized voters (obviously, I’m helping to run an auction!) and to the individual political campaigns as well.

But this thread is for organizations that directly impact material wellbeing.
