In the actual moment, it turns out that I am just completely and totally gobsmacked that for the first time in American history the United States has elected a woman to the vice presidency. And that she’s a Democrat. And that she’s Black and of Indian American descent.
Two and a half centuries of half the population being simply excluded from federal executive office. So easy to forget how twisted, how bananas, that is, and how long it’s taken to change.
