Okay let me share with you some teaching strategies that I personally found helpful before we call it a night! If you're a cikgu and you have some strategies you would like to share, feel free to add it to this thread! :))
Temperature Checks!
I use this for a quick round of checking on my students' moods and motivation levels. It helps you set expectations for the rest of the lesson.
It can be either in your slides or worksheets!

Sometimes you can let their creativity flow by asking them to draw their moods. I love these round stickers that are just perfect as faces. They then stick it at the back of their books.
And traffic light cards! I'm sure this is a very popular tool among teachers and I use them a lot for temp checks and checking for understanding or measuring success criteria achievements.
Plus this was a total win for social distancing learning! :)

Sticky notes are AMAZING too!
I love posing a wall of questions where students write their answers and stick them on the wall. Another great tool for social distancing learning.
You can get cheap sticky notes from Mr DIY (A God-sent store for cikgu materials)

I also made my kids create their own hand notes instead of writing it in a book. They love it because they get to do their own notes in their own way and it's convenient for their learning + totally out of the boring conventional brown books.
Popsicle sticks guys! I'm sure every teacher has used these to ensure they can randomly pick a student. But this idea I got from Pinterest takes away your second jar and it's super cute. Call on a student and flip it!

THIS GUYS!
This is a must have. This is a mini keyboard that connects to your laptop and you can control slides, type, play/pause videos/music and it even has a touch cursor. Walk around the classroom and control what's happening infront!

This was a total winner among the other teachers in school. Want to win your colleague's heart? Get them one of these. I bought it for less than RM20 from lazada.
Plus the kids love using it! Macam main game la cikgu!

BINGO for revising?
I set aside 25 questions from the topic. The kids set their own numbers in the boxes. A random number is chosen and the kid that answers the question correctly gets a sticker. 5 rows of correct answers and BINGO! You win!

This is a winner. This is a picture I got from Pinterest but I tried this activity and it really helps. I gather their songs and put it tgt in a playlist. This is played as they do their work and it really helps them stay in their seats + you get to learn their music taste!
Another way that really helps my kids settle down before class is a short video. I usually take videos from Kid President and they love him! It's a good way to just give them the time to settle down and get themselves ready for class + a breather (with some laughs)
Another way of getting them to settle down (and this is one of my fav) is ORIGAMI.
Origami just transforms my class into this calm and loving space filled with mindfulness. The kids become so caring as they help each other out with each step. It's beautiful and a must try!

I also use a lot of canva for my lesson slides. Their templates are beautiful and so captivating. Plus educators get a free premium account if you apply!
I'm a huge fan of canva cause it just makes me feel like a professional designer.
Maybe it's her, maybe it's Canva

Plus if you're using Canva, you can set a timer too! Just click on any number to set the number of minutes on your clock.
And this isn't just any timer! It has ducks in them! It's so distracting that sometimes I find myself watching the timer more than my students

Lastly, these are just some snapshots from my Sej class. I used to hate sej because it was all words to me. But I tried to make it diff as a teacher. I let them create things, imagined if they were living in the past. And tbh, I had so much fun planning these lessons.
I hope these tips and strategies were helpful. I think life as a teacher has forced the creative side of me out from its hiding hole and for that I am thankful. The key to it was to always ask myself - "If I were a student, what would make this interesting for me?"
I'm going to call it a night! I hope that each of you are having a fruitful and restful weekend
sending all of you love and strength for the upcoming days! Goodnight Twitter birds
