This whole “give black women money” thing happens every so often. And it’s the Social Justice Influencers who continue to make a bag.

One of these days imma call the name of the person in my head I think of when I say this. But i behave.

Most Black women still get eyerolled when they’re in need. The women without websites and portfolios and patreons are the ones who get fingerwagged when they need money for something... And that’s the problem.

I never said Black women SHOULDNT be paid. $25 isn’t reparations but it can absolutely pay for pizza one night. I’m of the mind that people should just be getting money anyway. In this economy, give it away.

I’m saying, it’s predictable who gets the gift and who doesn’t.

people should always be giving Black women money AT THE SAME TIME that they’re questioning what they think they’re accomplishing by doing so.

It’s just frustrating. To notice that people are comfortable with this kind of transactional situation.

Giving money directly is always the right thing to do. It’s always the right thing to do. People need money.

And. We need to build a culture where sharing directly isn’t a Knee jerk reaction to Crisis but instead, an action of solidarity and a foundation of community.

Sharing resources is important. We should be free to share with each other, not out of guilt, but because we know hoarding wealth isn’t helping anyone.

In other words. You cannot pay your guilt away.

But I don’t really talk to white people in my imagination anyway these days so there’s that.
