TIPS THAT I USED ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR ART; A THREAD
‼️THESE ARE JUST THE STUFF THAT I DID TO "IMPROVE" MY ART, ACCORDING TO MY FRIENDS ANYWAY ‼️
1.) STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHER ARTISTS
- you've probably heard this many MANY times before but it's true. If you want to compare your current art, compare it to your previous works and observe on what you improved on and what you want to improve.
2.) OBSERVE OTHER ARTWORKS AND ARTISTS
-this is pretty similar from the first one but its also different. If you see an artwork that you like, instead of comparing your artwork with their's, try observing their piece and what you can apply to you own practice.
Examples: the shading technique that they used, how they do their anatomy, backgrounds, line thickness, etc.
3.) IF YOU CAN, DRAW EVERYDAY
-if you know me for a while now, I draw almost everyday. Be it a little sketch or a fully rendered piece with a very detailed bg. If you draw everyday, you slowly improve. 4
4.) DONT WORRY ABOUT ART BLOCKS
-all of us went through the case of art block every once in a while. To me, art block is just a way for your brain to tell you to take a break. Its tired and needs rest. You will probably get inspiration and motivation at 11 pm.
5.) EXPERIMENT
-this is where you can actually see the change in your art style. Experiment with brushes, canvas sizes, shading styles, anatomy. You can also search up tutorials from other artists on how they draw a certain subject.
Here's an example of me experimenting on shading styles : BEFORE (August) and AFTER (October)
6.) this is obvious but USE REFERENCES
-you might think "oH iM noT a GoOD aRtIsT iF i caNT dRaW fRoM mY iMaGInaTioN--" stfu. You need those references. You think Da Vinky painted the Mona Lisa without Mona Lisa? No. Now, go open your pinterest and search for anatomy refs.
7.) WATCH ANIME/READ MANGA
-these are for the fanartist that uses anime like art styles. You can use weeb medium as your reference and inspiration. You wanna learn how to draw complex poses? Watch jojo. You wanna learn how to shade realistic eyes? Watch AOT. Etc.
8.) DONT BE AFRAID TO TRY SOMETHING NEW
-so in order to improve, you need to change the way you draw certain things. You might think that "oh this is my art style now. I dont need to change. This is how I draw" but you still want to improve but you are scared that you might+
Might change of what made your art style YOUR art style. I've been through this....many times actually. I was scared to switch from a pencil brush to a solid Dip Pen for my lineart, or when I was scared to change my shading style. If you want to improve, you must be willing to+
Change those big factors in your art style.

Here is an example:

Change in lineart; BEFORE(pencil brush) and AFTER (Dip Pen)
Uhhh so these are all I got for now. You don't have to strictly follow all of these, these are all the stuff that I did to "impove" my art. I'll add some more if I missed something. I hope this thread was helpful in some way. Oks bye.
