One thing we learned this week is that polls are a lot of cobblers.

Nowhere is that truer than Scotland, where polls showing support for independence are designed with that question the final of a series of other leading ones.

Angus Robertson polls are laughably worthless.
They are designed with three purposes:

1. Energise nationalist support.
2. Demoralise non nationalists.
3. Create a squirrel to distract from Sturgeon’s lies, guilt and corruption in the Salmond case.

It’s all strategy. What it isn’t, is reality.
Imagine a poll was commissioned on these lines.

Given the SNP currency proposals would put your mortgage and house at risk, are you more or less likely to vote for independence?

Given there may be restrictions to access within the rUK jobs market, are you more or less likely...
Given austerity unlike nothing ever witnessed in Scotland would follow, are you more or less likely to vote for independence?

Given John Swinney, whilst Finance Minister, admitted pensions may not be affordable at current levels, are you more or less likely...
Final question:

How would you vote in an independence referendum in 2021?

How do you suppose a poll on these terms might turn out? With a solid “No Thanks” I am sure. So when you see SNP trumpet fantastic polls in their favour, think about how they framed the questions!
Personally I think pro Britain organisations ought to be commissioning polls exactly on this basis.

You don’t defeat nationalism by giving it a free run at outrageous propaganda. You take it head on.

And when they accuse you of “project fear”, it isn’t. It’s “project reality”.
