latinx is such a painful example of successful erasure. brazillian trans people coined this term, but many people believe the term was coined by academics in the united states.
i use latine or latinx depending on which is most appropriate to honor how trans, spanish speaking organizers are self identifying. i know latine is more practical for spanish-speakers.
i just hope people don't feel pressured to use latine based on misinfo. surrounding latinx.

i also just want to clarify that language obviously evolves and sometimes is just no longer useful. i think moving away from latinx because of how its use throughout academia decenters queer, trans, and feminist latinx/e communities is entirely valid. just don't erase history.
