The meaning behind The Magic Shop by BTS- A thread
@BTS_twt
(Based on my own interpretation)
Let me start with the book, "Into the magic shop" By James Doty. The author had a troubled childhood but later on became a very happy and successful neurosurgeon.
In the book he writes about how his life changed one summer when he wanders into the magic shop++
and meets a lady named Ruth who teaches him certain exercises to overcome his fears and to manifest everything good that he has ever wanted.
Her magic is based on relaxing the body and mind and opening the heart. She teaches him this through focused meditation.
Manifestation involves creating a clear idea of what you want and firmly believing in it. We must keep reminding ourselves about it again and again. We live our lives as we think we will. It is highly likely to live a life full of negativity if we think negatively and vice versa
They say they& #39;ll not tell us something cliche like "hold my hand" Or "have strength" But instead tell us their own story and suggest us a real technique used in psychiatry. Magic shop is a Psychodramatic technique which exchanges fear for a positive attitude. ++
A psychodrama is a lot like roleplaying/enacting a situation and healing a person& #39;s trauma. The client uses spontaneous dramatization and dramatic self presentation to gain insight in their lives.
The magic shop is like a warm up exercise before the actual Psychodrama. It makes us comfortable for the actual procedure. Similarly in the song these lines
"While drinking a glass of hot tea
And looking up at the Milky Way
You’ll be alright, oh, this here is the Magic Shop" ++
BTS means that we must talk over tea and make ourselves comfortable, look up at the milky Way and we& #39;ll be alright in the magic shop.
The magic shop you exchange one trait for another. For instance you exchange your timid nature for a more outspoken nature but you don& #39;t always know if you& #39;ll get what you wanted. It might go the wrong way if we& #39;re not careful enough. ++
If we see carefully, they& #39;ve also mentioned "I know you& #39;re hesitating because in the end it always returns as scars. "
The psychodrama may not have a positive outcome. It may make things worse. But we need to trust and risk it if we want to get the result we really want++
In these lines, they say that the external world is sometimes harsh on us and we don& #39;t want to face things. On those days we must turn to the magic shop and they& #39;ll be waiting there to comfort us as always.
Here they tell us their stories and ask us to believe that they have been there too. They tell us their fears and the things they struggled with. They ask us if we& #39;d believe them when they said they were in our place too.
They realise that their goal was not to become the best but to help us become the best of ourselves. They wanted to comfort and heal us. They wanted to take our sadness away through their music.
And that is exactly what their songs have been doing to us.
They conclude with the lines
"You gave me the best of me, so I& #39;ll give you the best of you" Here they want to Convey that they came to the magic shop as clients and were on the receiving end. ++
They reached their goal too. And now they want to be on the giving end and want us to be the clients.
And they& #39;d give us a positive outlook on life in exchange of our fears.
