Here are a few reasons it's silly for Republicans to blame #Libertarian voters for a Trump loss. (Thread.) https://twitter.com/ScottWalker/status/1324013201378414592
If the voting-eligible population is 239,247,182 ( http://www.electproject.org/2020g ), 39% of adults identify as R ( https://news.gallup.com/poll/315734/party-preferences-swung-sharply-toward-democrats.aspx), and 70% of voting-age citizens register ( https://www.census.gov/newsroom/stories/election-day.html), that suggests there are maybe 65,314,480 self-identified potential GOP voters.
But if 140 million people voted for president ( https://www.businessinsider.com/2020-elections-nearly-140-million-votes-have-been-cast-2020-11), 35% (49,000,000) identify as R, and 93% of them (45,570,000) voted for Trump ( https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/exit-polls-president.html), then Republicans failed to turn out ~20 million self-identified Republicans.
Why blame ~1.7 million Libertarian voters for a Trump loss when Republicans couldn't even convince 20 million Republicans to vote for the guy?
But wait, there's more.

If 140 million people voted for president, 35% (49,000,000) identify as R, and 6% of them (2,940,000) voted for Biden ( https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/exit-polls-president.html), then there were 1.2 million more Rs who voted for *Biden* than there were total Libertarian voters.
Why blame ~1.7 million Libertarian voters for a Trump loss when 2.9 million *Republicans* voted for Biden?
