Don't get me wrong. I've never believed Ole was good enough. Very few managers are that lucky to swap Norwegian football for Europe's big Six, let alone the Premier League. The moment he got these guys in, that was when he lost it.

The Man Utd Backroom Staff.

A #Thread :
1. Mike Phelan

Sir Alex's Assistant for 12 years. Left the club when the great Scot retired in 2013. Joined his mate, Steve Bruce at Hull City 2 yrs later, where they both relegated Hull in 15/16. Joined Australian side, Central Coast Mariners as DoF in 2018, till he joined Ole.
2. Mark Dempsey

Ole's Assistant at Cardiff in 2014 then at Molde in 2017. Under their partnership, Cardiff were relegated in 13/14. Later went on to manage Tin-pot Norwegian clubs — IK Start & Kongsvinger — before joining Ole at United in December 2018.

Jackpot.
3. Martyn Pert

He became Ole's Assistant at you guessed it — Cardiff in July 2013. Alongside Dempsey and Ole, the trio relegated the Welsh side from the PL. Later went on to join Carl Robinson's backroom staff at Vancouver FC in the MLS till Ole got the job.

😭
Andrew Meredith

The Manchester United chief Analyst's previous job was in the Second tier of German football for Six years. Meredith was the Match Analyst of FC ST Pauli before hitting the jackpot under Ole at United.

Changed the man's life forever.
Kieran Mckenna

As a player Mckenna retired at the age of 23 in 09. Couldn't go beyond the Under 21 team at Tottenham. Later became Tottenham Under 18s manager, then Man Utd under 18s in 2016. Promoted by Woodward to join Mourinho's backroom staff. Been with Ole for 101 games now
Michael Carrick?

He began his coaching badges as Mourinho's assistant. A retirement gift by the United board cos he spent almost a decade as a great servant of the club. If he was good enough, probably would have been alongside José at Spurs.
These are the guys who coach a team that's got players who have won the World Cup, players who have torn it in the Champions League before.

Imagine Edinson Cavani and Donny Van de Beek walking into Carrington, what do you think went tru their minds when they saw these lot?

😩
Every single person that helped Solskjaer relegate Cardiff in 2014 is a Manchester United staff now.

Their lives have been changed forever.

This is what Nigerians mean when they say "e take me from zero to hero o, from zero to hero o" 🎶🎵🎼
If you're not good enough as a manager. You know that you're not. You get people who have done solid things elsewhere. Sir Alex got in Carlos Quieroz who managed Real Madrid previously if I'm not mistaken as his assistant

One of the major reasons we got Cristiano Ronaldo in 2003
José Mourinho had been with Rui Faria, Silvono Luoro since his days at Porto. After United, he felt they weren't contributing enough. Faria left though, before Woodward sacked him, but he didn't take any to Spurs. He got men with fresh ideas in.
Joao Sacramento became his assistant. Snapped him up from Lille. Previously he was the assistant manager to Marcelo Bielsa and Christoph Galtier for 95 games in that exciting Lille side that pushed PSG in Ligue un.

31 years old too.

Ole shot his foot.
