in other unpopular opinions, i think it's time to let go of the idea that the manga will resolve all of the dropped plot points we're still hanging onto. it probably will not. a lot of those opportunities have already come and gone.
"but when will the sc really come to accept that they're not the heroes they thought they were?"

i'm afraid ch. 133 might've been it. a lot of these moments feel underwhelming, not because isayama is waiting for something bigger, but because they were poorly executed.
"when will reiner and the sc actually talk about bertholdt?"

will they ever? hasn't that moment already passed? wouldn't the campfire have been the perfect moment for that conversation? if they'd addressed it then, wouldn't ch. 133 have made more sense?
"why is armin and annie's relationship development so unnatural?"

because it is. because we could've had so much more. but at this point in the story, there are too many characters and too many loose ends. in order to accommodate that, other things have been sacrificed.
"wouldn't it have been better if we'd seen armin struggle with survivor's guilt over having the colossus?"

yeah. but the story didn't make room for it.
i could be totally wrong! but i suspect that while many of these ideas will be mentioned again, they will never be resolved the way they need to be.

basically what we're reading is a good first draft, but it needs to be revisited, restructured, and revised.
