Sir & I had an interesting convo that sparked a desire for a thread about roles/stereotypes in D/s relationships.
We're both switches & just foraying into a true D/s relationship for the 1st time. There's SO MANY preconceived ideas out there re what a Dom/me, esp should be like -
& we've both had to stretch around that to who we actually are.

Neither of us fit a typical stereotype. Not for Dom/me or sub, or switches. Neither of us are what you'd expect from those roles. Hell, we don't always even call each other typical names.
I can be kitten as sub but also Kitten as Mistress sometimes!! Both of us have insecurity issues from past abuse. Both of us are finding ourselves now & allowing ourselves to just be US for the first time, maybe ever.
Here's the truth we're rapidly finding. Being us, exactly who we are, is a powerful thing. Fitting ourselves into stereotypes isn't only damaging to us but also doesn't allow us to be the full, amazing people we can be & that can only ever make a relationship the more dull for it
Being REAL is powerful. In fact, its a Dominance & also a submission to just be who you are, & just damn well enjoy it.

Doms/subs/switches - none of us are a monolith. We're all individuals who enjoy different things. Some of us are serious, some of us laugh our way through sex.
Some of us like to have/be a stern, unyielding or harsh Master/Mistress, some a more gentle, amused Master/Mistress. Some of us switches have prearranged D/s roles at specific times, some of us flow like river channels as the mood takes us.
We all also have conflicting needs, desires & feelings in ourselves. For example you may enjoy your subs discomfort but equally want to hold them & make sure they're OK.
All I'm really trying to say is, be real to you, don't let anyone else define you. Kink is about setting yourself free to be who you are - and when you find that with someone, who likes that person, and you like the person THEY really are, it's fucking wonderful!!! 😉
