I& #39;m sorry but you cannot convince me that declining Wong& #39;s option was the right decision. I would feel so much better if I believed the "flexibility" this move offers was actually going to be used to make a big move. But I don& #39;t. Because it won& #39;t. #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
This is the Cardinals we are talking about. I would love to be wrong about this but I would be shocked if I am able to directly see this flexibility on the field Opening Day next year. It& #39;s just not how they do business. For as long as I have been alive, the #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
Have not been a team to take big swings. Medium swings (trade and signs of Holiday and Goldy), sure, but not big swings. So it would be silly of me to believe that this flexibility will be used in some major way, instead of on two relievers and a utility guy. #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
So in case it isn& #39;t clear, two scenarios where I will like the move:
1. The money goes towards a big acquisition (see above for why that won& #39;t happen)
2. The #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> actually do bring Wong back on a more team friendly deal (see Ozuna, Marcell for why that won& #39;t happen either).
And I do understand the uncertainty of the times, truly. I just wholeheartedly disagree that this was the place to account for that. Mo could give me a peak at the actual budget sheet and it could show an 11.5 mil overage, and I would still say find it elsewhere #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
Do we need offense? Of course, but if this was about Wong& #39;s offense, then why are we still trotting Harrison Bader and Tyler O& #39;Neill out there? Both have potential but with holes in their swing that make Randy Grichuck look like a contact hitter. #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
I& #39;m feeling ranty today and this thread is too long but I realized why this move is so frustrating. There comes a point every offseason where it becomes clear that the #STLCards https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> do no intend to make major improvements to the team. Some years we get to kid ourselves for at least
