(1/6) Time for some straightforwardness.
The Government wouldn’t lock us down again UNLESS they felt it was the only way of preventing the NHS from becoming overwhelmed (and lots of people therefore unnecessarily dying because they haven’t got access to the treatment they need).

(2/6) Nobody wants to be locked down.
Nobody wants everything to be closed. The UK Gov know that for every second we can’t earn/spend, that our economy is damaged. As such, the plan (as it has always a been) is to keep as much open as possible, until it becomes clear that...

(3/6)..closures need to be made to slow down the rate of infection.
You do not need to be an expert, a doctor or an MP to understand that the more people interact with each other, the more the virus will be spread. The more you open stuff up, the more the infection rate goes up.

(4/6) As Chris Whitty said - the whole thing is a balancing act. Trying to keep as much open as possible to keep the economy moving (which is beneficial to everyone) while trying to ensure the infection rate isn’t rising. Right now, the balance is out, as infections are rising.
(5/6) Unfortunately the virus spreads much MUCH more effectively indoors, which means that socialising indoors is much more likely to cause the infection rate to rise.
That SUCKS, of course, especially now that we’re in the winter months and spending time OUTSIDE is much harder

(6/6) ...but it sucking doesn’t make it not true.
The most important thing to remember is that we are in this together. So many people have spent time looking out for each other, helping each other -
let’s just continue to do that and stop pointlessly arguing.
