This whole upcoming lockdown is only about the NHS.

They don't have the capacity for usual winter illness, and the government is terrified that it will look even worse on them this year when it inevitably comes under strain.
But now many more people are realising the devastating impact restrictions enforced by law have on society, all in the vain attempt to prevent a few old and ill people dying in winter.
There is no evidence that lockdown now, or in March, prevented deaths, and plenty of evidence to suggest it caused far more, as well as costing people livelihoods and their mental health especially.
The virus is not going away. It is also not a significant threat to our way of life, we live with flu every year, this virus has an IFR in the ballpark of flu for everyone under 70, lower for under 40 and even over 70, over 95% survive as well.
We need to stop pretending that it poses a threat so large that the government must control every aspect of our lives, who we can meet, where we can go, how businesses are run, what we can wear.
And if it were, there would be no reason for the government to have to force people into complying, or scare them with propaganda and false statistics. People would be scared enough and change behaviour accordingly (as was seen pre lockdown too).
Life can return to normal now for pretty much everyone. We know who this affects, how to treat them, and people can make their own decisions based on their risk.
But we need to stop taking away individual choice and forcing 99% of people to give up everything in an unproven, unscientific and life-wrecking way to try to let under 1% of people possibly have a few more months to live.
