I don't really know how to convey to people that it wasn't just that kids bullied me in school for my (as then undiagnosed) autistic traits, but that teachers totally bought into the idea of me being this weirdo and clearly felt the other kids' actions were somehow justified.
Yes, kids bully, but teachers do too. All the time. And in a much more sinister and manipulative way.

The teachers create the environment where it's okay to bully the weird kid. And then they will gaslight those weird kids into thinking what's happening to them is fine.
A part of my experience was that the teachers didn't care enough about me to be bothered to do anything about it, as, y'know, effort.

But that was mixed in with a huge degree of 'well, she IS weird' and kinda...letting the other kids do it as some sort of vicarious thing?
