Oneness of God is Islam's fundamental Principle. Allah (Arbic name for God) is the only Creator who deserved to be worshipped. Worship doesn't mean performing some rituals but it is basically about sincere obedience of God in all matters of life.

Now the question is 'how a person will know What God wants from him ?'

Allah conveys his message through his divine Books (revelation) & Prophets. Intellect & thinking ability is also God's gift but it is not enough to know complete truth. So Islam emphasis on both things.

So who are the prophets ?

They are not angles, not gods but simple Human beings just like you & me whom Allah selects for conveying his message in its most purest form

Allah has sent around 1.24 lac Prophets. Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) was the last Prophet.

25 Prophets like Jesus, Moses etc has been named in Quran. Muslims believes in all Prophets

There are people who worship great personalities from the Past because of their good message. There is a probability that many of them might be the Prophets of Allah

All Prophets who were sent before Prophet Muhammad were for Limited Geographical area & time period but Prophet Muhammad was sent for entire universe
His message (Quran & Sunnnah) is available for entire Humanity in its pure form without any human alterations

Bible, Vedic Scriptures also mentiones about final prophet. If you compare signs of last Prophet from these books with the life & message of Prophet Muhammad, you too will accept that he is the last Prophet of God
