Why "Peace" is a lyrical masterpiece that you all should stop sleeping on - a thread
" As long as danger is near and its just around the corner darling cause it lives in me.
No I could never give you peace."

The pain behind this line - the yearning to bring a sense of calm and peace to another but being painfully self aware that isn't possible.
In Taylor's case, it's near impossible to bring peace to another person because she will always have the danger of being Taylor Swift. Her life exists under the microscope of the public eye and everything she does and everyone associated with her is up for scrutiny.
"But I'm a fire and I'll keep your brittle heart warm if your cascade ocean wave blues come."

Even in the moments of feeling down and dejected, she plans to keep another feeling warm and loved - that feeling almost of home where it's the ultimate comfort.
"All these people think love's for show but I would die for you in secret."

No matter how people spin the story of their relationship or make opinions of what their relationship is, behind closed doors she would gladly risk it all for other person.
"Your integrity makes me seem small you paint dreamscapes on the wall
I talk shit with my friends
It's like I'm wasting your honor."

This is one of my personal favorite lines. It captures the almost tragic beauty of having someone willing to be wait and work with you.
It shows the internal conflict of feeling unworthy of having someone with so much care and patience but also enjoying every second of it that exists.
"And you know I'd swing with you for the fences sit with you in the trenches
give you my wild give you a child"

No matter how difficult and warlike the path ahead of them may lay , she is willing to do it all as long as she is with them and will give them everything.
"Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other family that I chose now that I see your brother as my brother"

This is my favorite part of the whole song. To be able to have comfortable silence with another person takes a lot of trust +
meaning you need to know each other at the deepest level, which requires you to be completely vulnerable with the other person. Also the idea of chosen family resonates deeply.
You don't get to pick the family you are born into but if you're choosing your family +
that implies you are choosing people to love and support your through everything. In Taylor's case she is choosing another's family for further love and support and integrates naturally in.
" Is it enough?
But there's robbers to the east
Clowns to the West"

This is self explanatory, but we love that Taylor didn't even try to hide who the line is about by the capitalization of the word "west".
"I'd give you my sunshine give you my best but the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me"

She will try to ensure that she is always giving her all to them and protect their relationship but also no matter what there will always be bad days because of who she is.
And lastly
"would it be enough if I could never give you peace?"

Being insecure about whether your best is enough to convince someone to stay despite all the other external factors that can tear them apart. It's a simple but loaded question.
Thanks for reading is you made it all the way and stream folklore as always.

Also all analysis is my own so if you feel or interpreted the song differently then cool!
