As soon as @Keir_Starmer saw the evidence of rising COVID-19 he called for a 2-3 week circuit breaker over half term to fix test and trace and slow spread of the virus. Johnson ridiculed it. Sunak blocked it. Yet now the Tory approach is failing we face a stricter lockdown
This government has been too slow to act throughout the entire pandemic whether on health or jobs and it’s the British people that suffer as a result. Tory Ministers have been slow on testing, too slow on PPE, too slow on care homes, too slow on lockdowns, too slow to act.
News of a second national lockdown should not have been leaked to the papers by the Government. It should be announced in Parliament. Their Comms strategy is part of the problem and their partisan attack on Keir calling for a circuit breaker wasted valuable time yet again.
If we do face more restrictions then the Government needs to use the time to fix testing, sack serco and move tracing to local councils, introduce proper support for businesses and self-employed and have a proper plan for England that doesn’t repeat their same mistakes again.
