as frustrating as this is, i can actually provide accurate insight on this. alot of vietnamese immigrants are from the southern part of the country, specifically Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City. one of the wildest examples is when i briefly volunteered for vice mayor of san jose @madisonnguyen 's campaign, there was this huge controversy over the naming of a spot named "little saigon", her rejection of this name, lead to an attempted recall of her on the city council

the reason is because the name "Saigon" itself represents anti communist sentiment, almost nobody in the states calls it "ho chi minh city" her wanting to name the place "Saigon Business District" drew huge scorn, accusations that she was a communist operative were rampant

Vietnamese Americans due to being from the south, have nothing but animosity when it comes to anything communist, like ANYTHING, thus trump says he hates communism/socialism, they gonna cosign that. And yes there are communist operatives here in the states who spy on people here

Ho Chi Minh is that dude, and for someone like me who has a father who served in Vietnam, to say that goes a long way, regardless i know we all communists here on twitter (for real, yall know where i stand) that shit dont fly with that community at all.

Fact remains for personally , i cant take away whatever happened during that conflict to these folks, endorsing this asshole aside, their resentment for anti communism runs deep as fuck and that aint gonna change anytime soon.
