I was taught to ask my elders how would they like to be remember, what photo they would like us to display at the funeral, what food and drinks they would like us to have ready for the Day of the Death altar. 🇲🇽💀
But most importantly, I was taught to openly talk about the end of life as a normal part of human life, in order to best support each other through feelings of grief and loss. 🇲🇽💀
My cultural heritage has given me the skills to educate others about the beauty of ensuring our elders remain connected until the end of life.

The Day of the Death is not Halloween. Just like 5 de Mayo is not a Mexican Holiday and Taco Bell Tacos are Not Tacos. 🇲🇽💀
The day of the death, is about honouring those who have left the physical space, yet living strong in our hearts and memories.

Every elder I have come across in my personal or working life - I will always honour on this special day. 🇲🇽💀❤️
