This is 40s into the game...., this press is insane.
This is just perfect pressing angles.
This action broke down but look how high EVERYONE in the back 3 is. Compressing the space so so much.
This is just so good. Starting positions hedge the easy square pass, don't take advantage of the big chance, reset and squeeze, eventually force the channel pass, Lawrence engages the runner to stop him coming in, Bergstrom mops up. (That's 4 turnovers in their third in 7 mins)
The density they get across *quickly* and the intensity they bring here is just so good.
It's hard to take much away structurally from this low a camera angle, but it looks like the 3-4-3 is becoming a 4-4-2 diamond. Near side wingback as an 8, 9 and opposite winger as strikers, 2 midfield 8's as your 6 and opposite 8, near side winger 10, near side CB as FB.
Something like this
United actually do really well to get out sorta out here and then Colwill-Simeu just totally lock it down.
I'm ~25 mins in and for all Chelsea's incredible pressing, they've been quite sloppy in possession and United have scrambled and defended really well. Very reliant on the initial turnover, or moments of individual talent (Either Tino making something happen mostly).
This isn't anything crazy but everyone arriving *on time* on the right path. So hard to play through.
Biggest thing that stuck out to me is just how relentless Lewis Bate is. The amount of ground he covers and snaps it is unbelievable. I'm less familiar with the 02's and 03's than I ought to be but I wasn't expecting that much doggedness to him.
