MOST FAMOUS MACES(गदा) IN HINDU DHARMA

Mace (Gada) was used by the strongest commanders of ancient armies. It was deemed a very skillful act to kill an enemy with only one blow of Mace
Various gada-yuddha techniques are mentioned in Agni Purana/Mahabharata

Gada was a mighty and much dreaded Asura but he was also known for charity. Vishnu disguised himself as a Brahmin and approached Gada. He requested Gada to lend his own bones to him to make a weapon. Gada, readily, agreed and Vishnu made one of the fiercest weapon from his bones.
As it was created from the bones of Asura Gada, the word Gada came to permanently mean mace in Sanskrit.
The most famous Gadas are that of Hanuman, Vishnu, Bheem, Duryodhan and Ganesh.
Hanuman Gada- given by Kuber to Hanuman ji. Hanuman Gada is carried in the right hand of Hanuman. It is a symbol of self-sovereignty, the authority of governance and the power to rule. It is said that once Hanuman’s gada saved Surath, the king of Kashi, from the arrows of Rama.
Vishnu Gada-called Kaumodaki and held in his lower left hans. Purana describes it as the power of knowledge. Kaumodaki is said to intoxicate the mind. It was given by Agni to Krishna. Kaumodaki at times appears embodied as a woman known as Gadadevi/Gadanari in Vishnu sculptures.
Bheem Gada-Bhima broke his gada a number of times. He left his first gada in vaarnavart and got a black gada. He had a golden gada which he broke in dyut sabha before he lost to Shakuni. In exile he got another one but it was broken by Hanuman. He is known as the best Gadadhar.
Duryodhan Gada- He chose only one fighting skill,ie, Gada Yudh and dedicated his whole life to achieving mastery over it. He was the favorite disciple of Balaram. Bheem was able to defeat Duryodhan only with the help of Shri Krishna.
Ganesh Gada- Ganesha is also called Gadadhar. His Gada signifies that our past sins are chasing us. Meditation will improve self-qualities and Ganesha will help us to chase away our sins.
