As we head into the most politically divisive election in a century I'd like to tell you about an America I saw once where we could trust in the government. Where even the media, both left and right, stood behind a leader and (1/9)

didn't question his actions because we could trust them. I'm talking about the world of GI JOE 2 - RETALIATION, the 2013 action "film". BEWARE THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE CINEMATIC MASTERPIECES THAT ARE THE FILMS OF THE GI JOE FRANCHISE. (2/9)

In the first film COBRA is a known worldwide terrorist organization. Using advanced technology they wreak havoc on the world and I think they destroyed Paris or something like that. They have a master of disguise ZARTAN who can perfectly imitate the look, voice and (3/9)

mannerisms of anyone. Through the course of the "plot" COBRA is able to replace the President of the United States with ZARTAN and by the end of the film even with COBRA defeated ZARTAN remains POTUS with no one the wiser. (4/9)

In the second film PRESIDENT ZARTAN, MEMBER OF KNOWN INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM CARTEL COBRA frames the GI JOEs for an attack and the public no longer trusts them. The President is all "FUCK THE TROOPS" and people continue to support him. Then he creates a new (5/9)

special military branch CALLED COBRA and even goes as far as to drape COBRA flags down the side of the White House. Same name, same logo, as the TERRORIST GROUP WHO JUST FUCKED UP THE WORLD. And the nation continues to support him. (6/9)

Imagine if Obama or Trump had announced a new branch of the military called ISIS and everyone was like fuck yeah YO ISIS. ISIS flags are hung at the White House. Still no one things something might be up with the President. (7/9)

Granted destroying Paris in the first film probably helped in the red states but that's an entirely different rant. But PRESIDENT ZARTAN is not impeached. Not questioned. (8/9)

Friends, close your eyes and imagine a world where you could trust leadership. Form a vision of the world where on the left, right and center we could band together and just believe in our elected officials that are secretly master of disguise terrorists. Isn't it a nice thought?
