Here's my thing about uni, it's awful at the best of times. No weekends, no evenings, just work. You're ill mainly cause you're burnt out. Add COVID into the equation and the added stress. Most students are young and homesick anyway, this doesn't help mental health at all.
So if the government imposes another 'full' lockdown, don't be surprised to see students run home. We literally can't afford to spent Xmas holiday away from home on around ÂŁ4k a year. Some have exams in January, and the ones graduating have limited jobs available to apply to.
It is hard for most rn, but for students (especially final years) we've got no guaranteed future, are in 10s of 1000s of ÂŁ of debt, and most likely won't be able to have a graduation, yet alone celebrate ending uni with friends

*Rant over*
(And that's not saying I don't agree with lockdown etc... I want to see COVID-19 disappear ASAP and want to see the government do everything they can to make that happen with minimal number of deaths because of it. That doesn't mean students won't suffer, though)
