Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain was a Republican in his time, meaning he was a Lincolnite. That means, unlike what the modern GOP wants you to think, he was a scary radical liberal. Why do you guys think people called Lincoln supporters "Black Republicans"? It wasn't a compliment!

Chamberlain was a documented (I've TOUCHED the documents) supporter of scary liberal ideas like birth control, gender equality, educating women (the horror), female orgasm's actual existence (ask me later), racial equality, women in the workplace, etc. Lots of fun stuff.

So I get reeeeeeally offended when modern GOP clowns like Trump try to claim the Civil War period's Republicans. They took SO MUCH CRAP for being scary radical liberals by their contemporaries.
