I was totally unprepared for handling an aging parent. Get in front of paperwork, accounts, power of attorney, medical guardianship, will (both yours & theirs - you could go first, leaving them a scam target), living & care situation, groceries, mental health (again: both of you)
We've already been through a neighbor scam artist, inability to shop for food, off & on medical issues, becoming a shut-in leading into a pandemic, & other things I won't mention. It will be much easier for you to prevent or plan for than fix, trust me.
I know it sucks to think about. I left home when I was 17 because I couldn't deal with things even then, and time does not age their issues like wine. But you've got to stay ahead of it because they probably won't.
Sorry for being a huge downer in a week & month & year that are bad enough all on their own. Just had to get this all off my chest.

Indy is coming to help you soon :)
One final thing: hopefully you're lucky enough to have an incredible partner by your side like I did with Lisa. Finding your own support network - & being part of one for others - is absolutely crucial. The most important step of all
All of your replies remind me why I stay on this platform despite its problems. Thank you.
