It's okay if you made a mistake on your ballot — it happens! There are ways to fix those mistakes and making sure it's correct is YOUR RIGHT! #VOTE #BallotCuring #VoterSuppressionIsReal
In Maine, if the election clerk sees a defect, the clerk must notify the voter of the defect either by:
- Email, using the email address provided on the application; or
- Telephone, using the phone number provided on the application.
The clerk can then verify that the voter signature is correct over the phone. If the signature is missing the clerk is obligated to notify the voter by phone or email so that you can:
- Go to the town office and sign the ballot in person
- OR request a duplicate
Either way, you MUST cure your ballot and correct any mistakes by 8:00 PM on #ElectionDay . Make sure you vote and vote correctly. #YourVoteMatters #YourVoteIsPower
