Hello everyone, I understand the news is shocking, but i assure you things aren’t as grim as they may appear. Although unfortunate this is the best case scenario for myself by accepting this suspension from Usada. @usantidoping https://twitter.com/flowrestling/status/1322241324519751682
In past articles read Usada has won every case in arbitration from 2000-2012 with the exception of 3 cases. In those same articles, test scheduling constituted nearly 95% of Usada’s case load. In a rare occasion taken to legitimate court they almost never won.
In order to be on Team USA @USAWrestling , I had to sign my right to take @usantidoping to court away. My only option was to go to arbitration. In this system, they are the prosecutors, judges, and their own jury.
“They write the arbitration rules including those governing what evidence is relevant under what circumstances it can be questioned.”- Michael Hiltzik, Los Angeles Times
You only get 3 strikes with Usada and I’ve never tested positive for a banned substance with Usada. All three of my strikes were whereabout filing failures never testing failures.
My first miss test was while I was training at 4am hiking the incline in Colorado Springs. Usada came to my door while i was hiking. strike 1.
As a world renowned athlete i take part in oversea training opportunities where traveling can take days. In this particular circumstance I was traveling with no set location, on the plane at the time, and to my inconvenience I lost my phone and had to borrow my coach’s.
To my knowledge once in Germany it came to my attention that Usada went to my home and once again I’m not there. strike two.
my third filing failure was during the Covid-19 pandemic. I went to my future in-laws farm house in MD with my fiancé to quarantine and stay safe right before the lockdown in March.
I updated my whereabouts when I got there, however where about forms renewed in June, not saving my updated location. Shortly after, still in quarantine, USADA came to my Colorado Springs residence in the morning.
The DCO( DOPING CONTROL OFFICER )called and I offered that morning to drive across the country to take my test. The DCO told me this was not necessary and would not count this as a strike and that he would reschedule my test when I returned to Colorado Springs.
I then received a call from my coach that USADA in fact did file this as my third and final strike.
