Starting today with this report into barriers faced by women screen composers in Aus https://apraamcos.com.au/media/research/2017_Australian_Women_Screen_Composers-Career_Barriers_and_Pathways.pdf
There's that meritocracy at work!
"In interviews and open-ended comments
some women identified having children as the point at which their career ended, and others
as the point where it went backwards or stagnated, whereas no men reported these types of
outcomes."
"In interviews, having children was a significant career event discussed in detail by women, whereas men mentioned children in passing or not at all." Gets you right in the gut.
'..it could be argued..' lol
Gendered industry participation & success could be due to '...lifestyle of women' but never anything systematic or deliberate.
