Ok

This is where I tell my stories about the legend that is Carl Waldmann. https://twitter.com/medic_mediator/status/1322169410669432833
In 2008, a young doctor wandered into Carl’s office

He wanted to become and Intensivist, and didn’t know what to do.

Carl sat him down, made him a member of @ICS_updates on the spot, and invited him to the next ICS meetings as his guest.
In 2012, this same doctor, now a senior trainee in ICM, had an idea along with @drjimday:

A U.K. Podcast in Intensive Care.

Not only did Carl approve, he arranged a “Dragon’s Den” style pitch to @ICS_updates

And this the ICS podcasts were born.
In 2013, tragedy struck this doctor.

His wife was ill.

Carl rung him, and told him to focus on his family, and that there would always be time for intensive care.
In 2016, Carl met this young doctor again.

He’d lost everything- his training post and job, but was thinking of coming back.

Carl said “Welcome back! We’ve missed you” and wrote this doctor a reference for a new job.
A huge part of who I have become today is because of @waldmannthree and his investment in me.

Thank you, Carl.
