✊ Headed into GOTV weekend ✊, and I can’t help but marvel at all the work our @pacronym + @anotheracronym team has done over the past 1.5 years in the presidential race. Here’s what it looks like as of this afternoon:
We've been up with our persuasion program (in WI, MI, PA, AZ, and NC) since August of 2019. Seeing early success among folks who consume less political news, we saw potential and focused our entire persuasion program on these 3.3 million low-political-info voters.
This isn't your typical persuasion audience (high turnout/mid-support). Understanding there would be plenty of overlap, we took a bet that folks with lower turnout scores and less political info are often missed by traditional programs but are worth the persuasion effort.
Thanks to the unprecedented shift to early voting this cycle we can already tell you -- THEY'RE VOTING. As of today we have confirmation that nearly ONE MILLION of our non-traditional persuasion targets have already voted. And we still have days and days to go!
We of course don't yet know how they voted, but we do know that they've been hearing from us for more than a year. A year plus of news and information from us -- ads, videos, and boosted news -- that we can't help but believe shaped their understanding of the race and candidates
Even better -- in August we added a mobilization program and added GEORGIA. Again aimed at folks who consume less political news, this 1.8m audience was even younger (30% millennial, 30% Gen Z) -- even less engaged with politics & even less likely to vote https://apnews.com/article/fe78fa8499dfa5bf035393c778c04ac9
This audience is majority BIPOC, majority under age 40, majority women, and only FOURTEEN PERCENT of them voted in 2016. Campaigns typically don’t speak to these folks because of their low likelihood to turn out, but we knew this was a critical gap to fill. And fill early.
Turn the corner into November... and they're voting!!! 300k of them have already submitted ballots, and we know that number will soar through Election Day. The best part -- HALF of them just cast their FIRST ⚡️ VOTE ⚡️ EVER ⚡️. Of our already voters, 49% had never voted before!!
I honestly cannot believe I got to build an audience where 86% didn't vote in 2016. It did feel like a stretch at the time, but we were confident it was smarter to spread out and talk to folks that campaigns might miss. As we see these votes rolling in, boy am I glad we did.✨
