Responding to an FOIA request ion by Olanrewaju Suraj of the Human and Environmental and Development Agenda (HEDA) in 2018, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation said it acquired the company in December 2014.
Meanwhile in August 2013, then Gov. Babatunde Fashola sent a supplementary budget proposal of N7. 5 billion to the Lagos State House of Assembly to buy out the 30-year concession agreement of the Lekki - Epe Expressway with Lekki Concession Company.
