I have been wanting to post this for weeks and now no one's engaging so fuck it: trying to get people to unfollow people you don't like with threats of unfollowing and withholding engagement is emotional manipulation at best and abuse at worst. let people do them.

especially if you're a huge account saying you'll tell your follows to unfollow small accts. you don't know why people follow others, could be just to keep tabs on known agitators or public figures, don't assume motivations of strangers, that's an asshole thing to do.

I don't get involved in drama online because it's usually personal shit (therefore NMB) being aired to help someone by hurting someone else, who is ostensibly on the same side. I want to see a lot more ACTING like we care about room to grow and a lot less TALKING about it.

like stop saying people can learn and grow if you're gonna try to ruin everyone's life who does anything you don't like. every. single. time. part of the reason the right is so effective and cohesive is they don't give a shit about purity politics, so we can temp set it aside.
