Back in 199x I played a fucklot of Shandalar (last game designed by Sid Meier before he left microprose!) and one of my favorite decks was essentially forced mana burn. Lots of mana flares and creatures with firebreathing to use up the extra, and ways to force you to burn

Alongside cards like mana barbs, power surge, earthquake and more. Maybe it's time to bring the haterade back =)
