But he also states: “First and foremost, we must repair and reinvigorate our own democracy, even as we strengthen the coalition of democracies that stand with us around the world." So the domestic situation in the US must be dealt with as world relations are repaired.

He goes on to add: "The United States’ ability to be a force for progress in the world and to mobilize collective action starts at home.” And this suggests that the domestic situation has priority in his mind. He promises to mend relations with Western allies. #USforeignpolicy

He plans on calling a global summit for democracy in his first year in office. He describes #NATO as "sacred" but also writes that "our allies should do their fair share". Indeed, he references the agreements that #Obama received from other members to increase defense spending

He does mention that there is a need to "reimagine" America's "historic partnerships" but stresses that Moscow fears NATO and so to counter the Russian threat it is absolutely necessary. It must expand its mission to allow it to fight threats like cyberterrorism or corruption
