time for a thread. I haven& #39;t work one-on-one with Bob Lutz, but I have been on ethics boards newly created in Spokane to handle possible caseload surges and advise physicians. In this role, we worked many long hours as a team to develop procedures and protocol back in March. /1 https://twitter.com/NiaWong/status/1322201000606801923">https://twitter.com/NiaWong/s...
Bob wasn& #39;t generally at these meetings (although he occasionally was), but his guidance was felt in general. So I can& #39;t speak to him specifically as a person, nor do I know fully what is going on. I& #39;ll state that up front. /2
But as someone who has been on the public health ethics front lines here in Spokane, I can say this. I have watched Bob& #39;s management of Eastern Washington& #39;s health crisis CAREFULLY, and I have always been absolutely amazed at his moderate, careful, evidence-based approaches to /3
navigating whole-human-centered healthcare practices. By this I mean, he not only carefully stewarded us through biological hazards, at all steps along the way, giving careful guidance and transparent information about our phases of re-opening and how to achieve them, but also /4
was willing to openly discuss and acknowledge the psycho-socio-emotional risks of quarantine. He didn& #39;t seem married to any one party line, and he didn& #39;t seem so married to quantitative evidence alone that he erred on the side of complete risk intolerance. /5
In short, I have found him to be such an amazing leader at this time, that I specifically mentioned him as a model to be emulated in my forthcoming book #Quarantinelife, and I honestly am sitting in existential dread today at the thought of not having his future guidance. /6
