Have you ever heard of "me-search?" If so, my guess is that its described as selfish or biased.
But these attitudes are unwarranted, and me-search can actually be positive for #psychscience

Me-search in psych is probably more common than we give it credit. Yet, we seem to discriminate against those who disclose a personal connection or lived exp with their research.

With psychology application season upon us, prgms - more than other years - will rely on personal statements to admit students.
Please reconsider your reactions to when a student discloses a lived experience with their research topic (3/4)

Instead of viewing "me-search" as a negative, let& #39;s consider it with more nuance.
A lived experience / connection to research may lead to:
-Passion for a subject
-Creativity for an area
-The promotion of underrepresented research (4/4)
