Are YOU afraid?

That thing you've been putting off for a while...

Is it result of that fear? Or maybe it's impostor syndrome?

Self-Doubt, insecurity, fear, impostor syndrome, overthinking...

We all go through it

Here's a way that has helped me deal with it

[Thread]
Not so long ago, I was reading the 4-hour work-week by @tferriss (had never read it before, I know, crazy lol)

I came across this exercise that has helped me with the issues above

Take out your notepad and pen and do this yourself while you read this. (I'm serious, do it)
Write down the following on the piece of paper

1 - What is my worst-case scenario? What's the worse that could happen If I go do the thing I've been putting off all this time?

2 - What steps do I need to take to fix my current situation and what's bothering me?
3 - What are the positive outcomes that could come out of this thing that I've been putting off for a while?

4 - What am I avoiding doing out of fear?

5 - What is it costing me? (physically, mentally, bank account wise, doesn't matter)

6 - What am I waiting for?
I want you to give a deep thought about all of these questions one by one and write down your answer

Just vomit everything down to the paper

I think you'll realize that the thing you've been fearing doing is really not a big deal
By writing it down and putting it down on paper, it is no longer stuck inside your head

This is the biggest problem with a lot of people

They try to solve the problem in their head, but they forget that their mind has their own biases
When you write it down, you give structure to your thoughts

What previously seemed impossible and unreasonable, now doesn't sound so bad after all, because you gave it life
Another thing that helps me is to "meditate"

The word is so overused these days that I don't like to use it

It creates internal friction because you do it because "you have to"

Here's a better approach

Sit down with your back straight and do nothing for 30 minutes
And whatever happens, happens

They also talk about integrating your "shadow"

I also don't like that concept.

Honestly, the "shadow" to me sounds more like "Your internal best friend that makes you do dumb shit when you ignore/neglect it"

Talk with him
Create a healthy dialogue inside your own head

Listen to your inner self and what it has to say and share your troubles with him as well

It's important

Too often we don't stop to listen to ourselves and give ourselves a break off external stimuli
If you want to keep your mind healthy you need to start putting more effort into this

Vomit your thoughts unto paper

Establish a better relationship and communicate with your inner self

If you do these two, you'll notice it will become a lot easier to stop doing dumb shit
And not only that you also stop getting in your own way

Too often I see people not doing the things they know they want to do because they get caught up in mental negative feedback loops

The only way to stop is to attack the problem at its root, the mind
The point of this thread is to make you realize that life seems more complicated than it has to be because you make it so

Get your thoughts out of your own head, realize that it's really not as bad as you make it out to be

And then... Go do whatever you've been putting off
