Halloween is my 2nd favorite holiday. When my kid was young, I was a stay-at-home mom & I *really* enjoyed making my kid’s Halloween costumes - here’s a thread of the early ones to bring you joy.
1st was the year I dressed Lyds up as Hedwig the owl - Jake went as Harry Potter https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😹" title="Katzengesicht mit Freudentränen" aria-label="Emoji: Katzengesicht mit Freudentränen">
The next year Lyds was super into Curious George. Of course Jake had to be the man in the yellow hat. I was “a monkey docter” (Lyds’ idea). Jake actually wore his costume to work and got *A LOT* of interest from the ladies https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😆" title="Lächelndes Gesicht mit geöffnetem Mund und fest verschlossenen Augen" aria-label="Emoji: Lächelndes Gesicht mit geöffnetem Mund und fest verschlossenen Augen">
The year after that she started coming up with her own costume ideas. She asked me to make her a pumpkin costume. “But not a scary pumpkin ... a HAPPY pumpkin!”
The next year she specifically wanted to be a crow. Because her Tante was super into crows and Lyds thought they were magic. I went as a C(r)owboy.
And lastly, the Lyds discovered Pippi Longstalking in kindergarten and insisted the entire family join her entourage (as pirates of course). Lyds was super disappointed to find out no one else her age knew about Pippi Longstalking https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😆" title="Lächelndes Gesicht mit geöffnetem Mund und fest verschlossenen Augen" aria-label="Emoji: Lächelndes Gesicht mit geöffnetem Mund und fest verschlossenen Augen">
