Per DEA, agents got onto them after a suspected money launderer, Manuel Hernandez, boasted about having Flowers "on his payroll." A DEA confidential source tested the cop by asking him to run a license plate on someone who supposedly owed him money

The source was pretending to be a Mexican cartel member. Eventually, Flowers brought in Edwards to act as security for a transport of supposed coke. They code word for the drugs: "white girls," per DEA complaint.

Both Flowers and Edwards boasted about their firearms and tactical skills, DEA says. All these meetings were audio and video recoded. After transport operation was done, source told them "Welcome to the Sinaloa cartel" and everyone laughed

Flowers hails from police family. Sister is an officer in Georgia, dad the chief in Bal Harbour. Edwards is a former U.S. soldier. Both men were members of Miami-Dade's "Priority Response Team," unit created after the Parkland school massacre

The most absurd part of the social media preening: Officer Flowers used the name "Mike Lowery" on his Instagram account. That's the Will Smith character in Bad Boys.
